mossberg rated 4 weeks ago- Nice site giving information about Jodo Shu Buddhism, with links to other resources.

kundrol rated 15 months ago- From the page: "If your faith is based on other ground than this, you may not be received by the Compassion of the two Buddhas and may be left outside the Primal Vow." This seems to be a fundamentalist sect designed for the questionably perceived needs of "lay people" who want a quick fix. Just recite this mantra and you'll be saved. Sorry, but I don't think so.

digits rated 21 months ago- Thought for the Day December 14, 2006 - Let us live gladly! Quite certainly we are free to do it. Perhaps it is our only freedom, but ours it is, and it is only phenomenally a freedom. 'Living free' is being 'as one is'. Can we not do it now? Indeed can we not-do-it? It is not even a 'doing': it is beyond doing and not-doing. It is being as-we-are. This is the only 'practice'. 'All Else is Bondage; Non-Volitional Living' - Wei Wu Wei

Now I have lots to say about this... This is a very nice observation, I have seen this work out so well many times. When you see two people involved in a tussle, if you are not involved with any of the sides and observe the problem for some time it will become obvious that they fight for silly reasons which they could have easily avoided. They care more for their "self-respect" and "dignity" but forget to realise that it's going down everytime they retaliate. "Every reaction in the form of hatred or evil is so much loss to the mind; and every evil thought or deed of hatred, of any thought of reaction, if it is controlled, will be laid in our favour. It is not that we lose by thus restraining ourselves; we are gaining infinitely more than we suspect. Each time we suppress hatred, or a feeling of anger, it is so much good energy stored up in our favour..." "The weaker the man, the less he has of restraint." - From the book of "Rāja Yoga". This applies to our own problems too, a problem might seem stressful, demoralising but if we come out of it and look at it from another angle we might be able to get better solutions. I've seen this happen many times. 'How does one achieve "a mind like still water?" One learns to go with the flow of life, the current of existence. When an untoward event occurs in your life, react to it without haste or passion. Realize that in almost every instance you probably have more alternatives than you think you have. Hold still a moment before acting or reacting and consider the alternatives. Then, having decided upon a course of action, proceed calmly.' - From the book, Zen in the Martial Arts Complete Spirit Chi Hsing Tzu was training a fighting cock for the King. After ten days he was asked if the bird was ready, and he said, "Not yet. He's still vain and quarrelsome, and relies on his own spirit." After another ten days, he said, "He isn't ready yet. He's still alarmed by the apperance of another bird." After ten more days, he replied, "No, Not yet. He still looks fiercely, and is full of spirit." When the fortieth day had passed, he replied to the question, "Nearly ready. Though another cock crows, he doesn't react in the slightest. To look at him, you would say he was a cock made of wood. His inner quality is now complete. He has no need to fight, because no other cock will dare to confront him." Chuang Tse in 'Spiritual Teachings of the Tao' by Mark Forstater. Well all these are just my thoughts and what I've read, thoughts which I've got from reading books or through experience, just brush it off if you find it immature, that is if you have come this far lol
