-standards presentation (xhtml, css)
-dynamic display and interaction using DOM
-data interchange and manipulation using XML and XSLT
-asynchronous data retrieval using XMLHttpRequest
-Javascrip binding everything togheter- AJAX: a new aproach to web applications
