From the page: "A scientist who mapped his genome and the genetic diversity of the oceans said Thursday he is creating a life form that feeds on climate-ruining carbon dioxide to produce fuel. "We have modest goals of replacing the whole petrochemical industry and becoming a major source of energy. We think we will have fourth-generation fuels in about 18 months, with CO2 as the fuel stock.""

Messing with life forms, and once again trying to put a 'band aid' solution on the problems that are bringing us to the brink of collapse. Oh, you've genetically engineered and enslaved some life forms to process CO2 and turn it into fuel? Sweet! Let's keep on polluting! The more CO2 the better! Let's not rethink our wasteful lifestyles at all! Blech.

Fascinating article about a guy who is trying to engineer a life form that will eat large amounts of CO2 to produce large amounts of octane as fuel.

It would be an incredible success for this to become a widely utilized resource.

Quite interesting...though i doubt the effectiveness of the "suicide" gene..It just takes on mutation...
