- Reasonable technology and concept, though graphics and physics engine are probably not as advanced as say secondlife and There.com. AW seem to be focusing their attention at providing white labeled solutions and proprietary technology to Large organizations rather than bothering with maintaining a community.
The Community user base has declined markedly since 2001, There are not many people using the program anymore and it is quite dead, worlds are now largely unpopulated. Apart from at the entry area, there is no one to talk to, you're on your own once you leave the entry area. Apparently you can build / create your own stuff in there if you stump up $70 per year, but I personally see little point if you have hardly any one to show your creations to. - Reasonable technology and concept, though graphics and physics engine are probably not as advanced as say secondlife and There.com. - I love this! It could just be the time I am on, but there is nobody around and it feels like a virtual ghost town. All around you is virtual paradise and not a soul in sight! It feels post apocalyptic if that makes any sense. It's really quite sad, even though it's just a virtual world you get a sense of what this place could have been. The word forlorn comes to mind. I'll take this place over the garish virtual mall that is Second Life any day.

onestackmack rated 5 months ago- This looks like something I could really get into. I could build a shopping mall and have a lot of fun with this!

At one time Activeworlds had the chance to lead in this area. They were ahead of the curve when they first started up however due to poor management and virtually freezing the tech and graphics in 1998 it's now little more then the "pong" of the online virtual communities.

Streetline rated 5 months ago- Giving Active Worlds a thumbs up because I used to have a citizenship when I was a kid. While it was a pretty cool experience at the time, all the reviews point to its utter degradation. Thumbs up anyway for the nostalgia.

- I played around with this years ago, on dialup, waaaaay before 2nd life was even heard of. It was amusing for a few evenings, but soon showed itself for what it was... pointless.

LeonardoDaVinci rated 9 months ago- Ah yes, avatars and fully immersive, convincing 3D environs! The "industry" has been hacking away at it for years. Will we ever get it right? I mean "holodeck" right? In a few more years, I hope. In the mean time, I'll check this one out...
