From the page: "We work also to extend rights to segments of our population that have traditionally been denied their rights, including Native Americans and other people of color; lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people; women; mental-health patients; prisoners; people with disabilities; and the poor. If the rights of society s most vulnerable members are denied, everybody s rights are imperiled."

I'm about as extreme on civil liberties as anyone can get, so I think that the ACLU serves a necessary purpose. That being said, it has a tendancy to stand up only to those it agrees with, especially when it comes to free speech on college campuses.
