Fidi discovered 6 months ago- "Rem ote-controlled explosives strapped to two mentally retarded women detonated in a coordinated attack on Baghdad pet bazaars Friday, Iraqi officials said, killing at least 73 people in the deadliest day since the U.S. sent 30,000 extra troops to the capital last spring. The chief Iraqi military spokesman in Baghdad, Brig. Gen. Qassim al-Moussawi, claimed the female bombers had Down syndrome and that the explosives were detonated by remote control, indicating they may not having been willing attackers in what could be a new method by suspected Sunni insurgents to subvert stepped up security measures." I'm not sure what is more disturbing: that someone would do this to another human being--taking advantage of the least among us by strapping a bomb to mentally disabled women to do their dirty work, or that most of the media outlets are reporting still at this hour that these women were willing participants. Animals, mentally disabled people, women, children, innocents...I cannot understand what makes a person do this under ANY circumstance--occupation or not.

whoneedsit rated 6 months ago- The bombers were exploited women with Downs Symdrome. Perhaps it's because Downs is physically recognizable that this is stirring news; but I can't imagine that exploiting the learning-and-otherwise disabled hasn't been going on all along. Could this be any more abhorrent? Now...off to look into what means "popular pet markets" in Baghdad?
