harrystottle discovered 11 months ago- I was sceptical when I started reading this page, but s/he won me around in the end. I can only challenge one of the choices. I wouldn't have picked "beards" as a killer issue myself.
While I agree there is a fear of visual non-conformity, I doubt it is limited to beards. (I doubt if a candidate with dreadlocks would stand much of a chance either!) But try as I might, I haven't yet come up with a replacement issue.
I'm allowing the "Kennedys" to stand for the 9-11 issues which are not being discussed; and I'm allowing "Where does money come from?" to stand in for discussion of the Federal Reserve and the Social Security scam. After making such allowances, I haven't yet figured out what, if anything is missing from the list.
The few other obvious big issues include those which actually ARE being discussed - like Global Warming. I'm working on it...- I was sceptical when I started reading this page, but s/he won me around in the end. I can only challenge one of the choices. prosaicproduce rated 11 months ago- incredibly true

swam rated 11 months ago- It's true I think a man who abides in animal orgies might not be a good president. These things are called indicators.

Torchiest rated 11 months ago- A good piece about taboo subjects for presidential candidates. I don't agree with all the content, but my complaints are pretty nit-picky and unimportant in light of the overall high quality of the writing.

reckoness rated 11 months ago- You cannot ask for more. This is a truthful analysis. The suggester was skeptical, and I admit that I was skeptical too. When non-relevant issues that are meant only to reinforce a candidate image emerge as the most important issue, little things get behind. I have an idea. Ban anybody with a law degree from running for office. There is a strange relationship between truth, fiction, lies, and lawyer. All you know about them is, "He sounds forceful. I like that." Very pathetic.

darsius rated 11 months ago- many subjects that presidential candidates and the public find taboo, but are actually very important to the future of this country.

kchishol1970 rated 11 months ago- A list of really intelligent issues that the US presidential candidates won't touch.

redshift13 rated 11 months ago- Don't Go There: Top 20 Taboo Topics for Presidential Candidates A good list, if incomplete. "13. 13: Vote for me -- I'm smart! When we give someone an important job that engages a lot of complex problems, we usually want the smartest cookie we can find. But heck, Americans like Presidents that are just like them -- simple-minded and borderline literate. Is this you?" Thanks to http://dashiell.stumbleupon.com/ for this find.

Dashiell rated 11 months ago- So true.

matthewbhere rated 11 months ago- A clever article that points out a number of the things that today's bland, uninspired, spineless politicians have to say/be in order to be considered a viable presidential candidate. Only a handful of stale issues can be debated, and only certain narrow points of view are considered valid. The stranglehold that the two main parties have on the political system makes it nearly impossible for there to be discussions about the many different substinative issues that exist out there. While I may not agree with every political position the author of this piece takes, he does do a good job of showing that the US has truly a watered-down version of democracy. That being said, it's still good to vote, if for no other reason than to keep people like George W Bush out of power.
