This post is a great resource for research information and a great reminder about what good research can do for your writing. From the page: "Substantive research gives your writing teeth, enhances its impact, and lends your words an air of credibility."

Fantastic article! Definitely one I'll return to -- I keep meaning to work on some research-heavy blog posts and never quite get round to it. This is a brilliant explanation of why research matters, and an invaluable list of resources.

This is a great article that I will share with my graduate students at my website: http://billso.com/references/

Clay speaks the truth: If you want to be a good writer, you need to do quality research. Don't know how to research? Start with Clay's post and then ask a local librarian for help.

Research Sources for Writers: A Guide to Backing up Your Words

Looks good, sent it to myself. Hmmm, demonveen is self proclaimed thought police. "But you shouldn't even think of yourself as doing research unless you are physically walking into a library of a major university." Oh gosh! I will try to censor my thoughts in case I am guilty of this massive oversight... I don't want to be caught out when the hounds of hell come to catch the false-researchers.

A totally cursory overview of research sources. But you shouldn't even think of yourself as doing research unless you are physically walking into a library of a major university.
