jaysen rated 30 months agoopen-source, tools, wiki - wikidpad is my current preferred knowledge management system - a wiki based notepad that allows you to store info in a flat, massively linked structure - though hierarchical views can also be easily defined.
It has all the functionality to express TheWikiIdea (except of course that its singleuser), can run python from within the editor, is extendable in python, has both gadfly and sqlite storage options, fully searchable..
The current lead programmer is just churning out these amazing releases - its been nice watching this app grow. pretty complete responses on the forum aswell.

AS A NOTE-TAKING APPLICATION, THIS IS PROBABLY GOING TO BECOME ESSENTIAL TO STUDENTS. As a student myself, I can't wait to put this to good use. It will probably shine brighter as more notes are added.
