    Many years ago, when I discovered the english expression "don't judge a book by its cover", I thought it had to have been invented in order to mock me. More than once I've avoided buying a book I was interested in only because it had one of those cover I would be ashamed to be seen with, or, when multiple editions were available, the cover design was as much a factor in my decision as was the price. I also exhausted my email insulting skills when I got [this] instead of [this], and [this] instead of [this] (not by amazon. They are wonderful, god bless them). [For those interested in knowing how the story ended: in neither case the bookshops involved tried to address the fact that I was being childish, and they offered to take the book back paying the shipping fees. However, in both cases, I didn't want to wait another two weeks, so I still have the ugly cover versions.]
