My Intuos 3 makes me run faster and jump higher! I use it at work everyday and sometimes more than that.

making the adjustment between traditional artistic mediums (i.e. graphite/ink/brush/etc. and paper or canvas) and a tablet can be somewhat difficult - it takes a lot of practice to get the hang of it (I don't have one, personally, so I struggle)...I find that it helps to place a sheet of paper over the tablet and use the stylus against that to get the 'drag' effect that you're used to - a tip I got over at conceptart.org, which I highly recommend for anybody with questions about equipment like this.

Review now edited for efficiency: angstChristmas drives you nutz/angst Wacoms I will admit are great tools. And it appears they design them with users in mind considering the questions my user survey had. Yet, nothing should be too presumptive. I'd suggest checking Aiptek if you aren't too picky. To be honest, even if you had stubs for arms, you'd still be able to make fine art. The rule really is speed and scale. For the more business and high-speed style-o-artist, the wacom is great. That's my understanding since I have seen outstanding art from aiptek (see: http://mattahan.deviantart.com). For those of you being hobbyists, if you have very little time, a wacom can help (in my case, I have next to NO time, and yet the way the tablet is made and all it's functionality allows me to start GIMP or other apps almost instantly after I plug the thing in... the thing has been just that though. I can't say it has better quality than the aiptek that my uncle has... it just takes longer to attain the same level of art because of sensitivity and settings. And even then, getting used to the aiptek, you might be able to do a lot of fast stuff).I'll try to give more info if anything else comes, but yes... wacom does come with quite a few offers and additional deals with the tablet... but I'm pretty sure they won't make much of a difference. And aiptek will prolly give you good software deals as well. I'm not too sure on this part due to the fact that I haven't bought one. And I prolly won't due to the tablet.Enjoy knowing this:any investment is just as good an investment as any other if you're willing to invest time into it as well. Any tablet can work... just have the inspiration first... and make sure you're inspiration is real. I had to relearn why I wanted a tablet after I bought the thing. (Yeah... I suck)
