Tony Robbins distilled into a twenty minute video. I highly recommend you watch it first and then you can use my notes below if you want to remind yourself of the key points. He does NOT consider himself a "motivational" speaker - he calls himself the "Why" guy. (Why generates emotions that generate actions.) My notes on the content of this video: Two Lessons of Life: 1. Science of Achievement - take the invisible and make it visible 2. Fulfillment is an art - it's about appreciation What is it that shapes us? Our culture is a therapy culture; the mindset that we "are our past" and the "past equals the future" - both untrue. Decision is the ultimate power. Defining factor is never resources - it is RESOURCEFULNESS - if you have the EMOTION you can do anything. THREE DECISIONS OF DESTINY 1) What am I going to focus on: Focus = Feeling Past/present/future Self or others? 2) What does it mean? Is it the end or the beginning? Are you being punished or rewarded? 3) What are you going to do? Are you going to give up or move forward? Whatever you decide to focus on you give it a meaning The meaning causes feelings/emotion Emotion creates the action Life challenges give us "Emotional Fitness - Psychological Strength" Two invisible forces: 1) State (your model of the World - your filters) A. What is your target - what are you after? B. What is your current belief system on getting that? 2) The fuel you pick Six universal human needs: 1) Certainty (avoid pain - control everybody, develop a skill, give up, get an addiction) 2) Uncertainty (variety, surprises) 3) Significance (unique, different - fame or infamous through violence = 10, 4) Connection/Love (most settle for connection because love is too scary) (Can be met through pets, nature, God) All humans meet the above four somehow 5) Spirituality (grow or die) 6) Contribute beyond our selves (Life is about giving - pir calling) His belief learned early in life: strangers care; caring about others feels good What you value most affects your destiny If your beliefs guarantee you can never get to where you want to go, what happens? Most people only experience less than twelve emotions and at least half make them feel bad Do you know someone who gets mad about everything? Or can find a way to be happy about anything? You act on your dominant emotions - angry people get angry, sad people get sad, vindictive people want to get even When do people really start to live? When they face death You have GOT to listen to this! [P.S. This video contains another example of the truth that we attract into our life what we have the strongest emotions about - and that is usually what we most fear. What if we developed strong POSITIVE feelings instead? What would the World look like then?]

Tony Robbins. Same message as "The Secret", down a few posts, but less mystical.
