- I don't think this is exactly out of step for these types of cartoons, look at Yosemite Sam (Trigger-happy redneck).

- Those are black people?! They look like monkeys more than people. It's like the artists didn't even TRY to humanize them.

- This cartoon is so sad! It plays into all the horrible stereotypes being put forth at the time about black people being lazy, over-sexed, simpleton animals. One example of how 'lazy' they were in Lazytown was when one man woke up to pick a piece of cotton before going back to sleep!! The physical depictions are incredibly racist with obese women (with men's voices) caricaturized huge lips and some of the people look like they were actually drawn as monkeys and put into clothes! Any time you wonder how screwed up people can be and what profit-motive drives people to do, you can check out this cartoon.

- Boy, they weren't kidding when they called this "racist". Half the shit they call racist nowadays pales by comparison. I guess in the 1940's this was acceptable though...
