Hence, diagnosing a child or adolescent with ADD or ADHD is often the outcome, although no organic basis for either disease has yet to be clinically proven. Psychiatrists may then prescribe psychotropic drugs for the children without first without making it clear to parents that these medications can have severe side-effects including insomnia, loss of appetite, headaches, psychotic symptoms and even potentially fatal adverse reactions, such as cardiac arrhythmia. And yet, despite these dangers, many school systems actually work with government agencies to force parents to drug their children, threatening those who refuse with the prospect of having their children taken from the home unless they cooperate.

Another problem is how the medical profession treats parents who disagree with their diagnoses. They're patronizing and contemptuous, scorning you because you dare to stand against them.
Another thing that bugs me: if your kid is energetic and wiggly, finding it hard to concentrate in school, it's assumed he has ADD.
It's like they want little automatons.
I wonder why that is? /sarcasm.

- I am really disappointed in the trend of lazy parenting I`ve seen. Too often, drugs are prescribed to `help` children to overcome things that, when I was their age, was viewed as normal.

Again, western civilization and the ego by way of the "legality" of judging people. They judge these children - without organic proof and threaten the parents unless they succomb to drugging their children? ...and we're still calling America a free society.
