 nicklinn rated 9 months ago- There is absolutely no reason you cannot sharpen your own knives using a whet stone, just don't buy those garbage automatic sharpeners. For that matter anything motorized is not a great idea. Grinding (re-edging)the blade (even by a pro) will wear down the blade very fast and is only required when the blade is nicked or the blade is not uniform, which is pretty rare.
