- Some speculation about the stumbleupon algorithm.

IntrepidDreamer rated 8 months ago- "I wish, my dear Kepler, that we could have a good laugh together at the extraordinary stupidity of the mob. What do you think of the foremost philosophers of this University? In spite of my oft-repeated efforts and invitations, they have refused, wit" - Galileo Galilei

To thumb up or thumb down? That is the question.
Thumbs up for tying to figure out the algorithm that makes SU work...I mean , how can you not groove on this?
(Initial stumbler audience /# domain) + ((% stumbler audience /# domain)+ organic bonus - nonfriend) - (((% stumbler audience + organic bonus) + N
Oh..makes me shiver ;-)
Then I realized it said organic not orgasmic bonus....
kinda lost interest...but I digress....;-)
Even if it's not great science, a small sample, and he admits he might have his head up his ass, it's still kind of interesting. It's speculative, to be sure..I mean , the real algorithm is worth...well...ask EBAY.
BIG thumbs down for giving more ammunition for all the fucking spammers and "top stumbler-wannabee's" who want to game the system, the "traffic trollers", the attention whores who want to be "a top stumbler in less than a week", instead of taking the time and effort to put together a great blog that is popular because it actually has great content and great links.
This shit really offends me...Man, normal epithets just won't do.

john-sampson rated 8 months ago- Great post speculating how the SU algorithm works. Definitely worth taking the time to read.

lasellers rated 8 months ago- In-depth mathematical reverse engineering of the stumbleupon "stumble juice" algorithm. If you are trying to boost traffic coming to your site from stumbleupon, it probably would be a good idea to read this. In short: Having complete strangers with huge fan followings, who've never been to the site before, is key.

hockeyguru rated 8 months ago- Fantastic analysis of the possible variations of the stumble algorithm.

edwardmills rated 8 months ago- A very interesting look at the Stumbleupon algorithm. Is it right? Who knows, but it sure sounds like it could be.

chimichurri rated 9 months ago- I dunno. *shrugs* I just stumble because I like to. I don't want to rip apart and analyze every nook and cranny.

desdemona rated 9 months ago- "stumble juice"? No, thank you :) Not unless it mixes well with vodka.
