Zalmoxsis rated 6 months ago- This is the Metric Converter which I used with Windows from time immemorial ... well, at least since the year 2000. The original file was a portable, stand-alone executable of only 56 kb. (This executable file is actually the core of the present version; if you like, you can probably hack it, or find the portable version somewhere on the Internet.)
I have since moved on to the larger Free Unit Converter (see links below), not because it is so much better, but because it converts some really unusual, obsolete measures. Also, the Free Unit Converter runs very well on a Linux system using Wine; whereas I have had problems getting this, the Metric Converter, to work. But in Windows it ran beautifully; and if all you want is for a simple program to convert basic measures like weight, distance, temperature, volume, etc., from Metric to Imperial-U.S. measures, and vice-versa, then this will serve your needs very nicely.
Another point of difference: Free Unit Converter also handles cooking measures, so that you can convert European recipes to American and British; whereas this program, Metric Converter, doesn't do that stuff.
Both these versions are small enough, by the way, to be downloaded from your computer to your cell phones, meaning you can take them anywhere.
