What is it? An experimental effort to provide a user experience similar to the SU V1 (Classic) interface. Does it do that? Not really, at least not yet. It presents a layout that mimics the older interface visually with a subset of important SU functions, but without many of the other... more

Found this via MysticMint. In its fledgling stages. I was confused at first--couldn't find how to add categories--but the help page did. :P It imported my stumbles, which is cool. I'm looking forward to watching it develop. NOTE: I noticed that you have to blog a link for it to get into the system--which means it will show up on your SU blog within the system as well as being an added site. I'd like to see that cleaned up--maybe omit the SU blog entirely?

I like it. I get far less quasi sexy girl photos and blinky lighted cards sent to me. I also get far fewer advert sites sent to me as a ' friends ' request. Since I search for info, it's not hard to do both. Naya. I have a 34 inch screen and can search two sites at once.

I have only one question about or to Overrun Categorian -- how do I delete my account? Wasn't enthusiastic in the first place, since it offers nothing except a space to write or display material in and a (cumbersome) messaging system. You have no idea if anyone's reading you unless they tell you; there is no tagging, there are no general searching or organising tools. And now it's displaying the source code of my KG posts, rather than a replica of what you see below here. So get me out; it only makes me appreciate SU all the more. STOP PRESS: Display problem is fixed. Tempering my comments, then. Main thing for me: It just seems superfluous, given that it doesn't really offer much that SU doesn't. It's a home for the aggrieved, I guess.

I am not sure what to say here. I like the effort and the attempt at something different. I think the new SU does offer more, yet something is missing. I miss the novelty of the old and the feeling of community that was originally associated with a smaller SU. I will experiment with OverRun and see where it goes. But I also wish that I was experiencing some of the old energy that made SU so satisfying.

I think we need a thumbs level! I don't want to give this a thumbs down, but I don't really want to give it a wholehearted thumbs up! I tried it out, and I am staying firmly in Stumbleupon. Read on to learn more!... OverRun was created specifically for those who don't like Stumbleupon. If, like me, you enjoy Stumbleupon, and find it relaxing and stimulating in equal measure, then you may feel a bit surprised that an alternative is there at all. It explicitly welcomes "refugees from Stumbleupon". It is a social network site and web resource that attempts to provide some of the experience of Stumbleupon. It prides itself on being restrained and quiet, though it's a little difficult to find adjectives that give a fair picture of this SU imitation that is not really an SU imitation at all. I know many stumblers who are trying it out. Some people prefer it. Many don't, and I don't either. I tried it, but I know which I prefer. Is it for you? Well, that depends on you. If you like a wide range of stumbling ability (OverRun calls it staggering), and a world-wide wealth of sites to choose from, SU is much, much better. If you like to meet people from all over the world, and enjoy the unexpectedness of new faces appearing to visit your site or contacting you, then definitely Stumbleupon is very much the place you want to be. The small core of people on OverRun went there partly to get away from all of that. If you don't like meeting new people, and if you really want to hide, you can there, it is built into the system, and if you want to talk to just a small group of your own friends then you will be very happy in OverRun, provided your friends go along too. Most of my friends are here, and of those who tried it I know a number who won't be spending a lot of energy over there. If you like being open on SU, open to new experiences and new faces and maybe new friends, then I wouldn't bother to go over there, although no doubt you will see a few familiar names and may make some friends. Not all encounters there are friendly though, and in my first few days I had a variety of experiences. I was also here as well, and at the same time I made the change to the new SU. I was a bit nervous of it, but quickly found so many new things that were such an improvement I was won over for good! One of the side-effects of the new SU was some new and very good friends, a definite plus, for me. However, I don't want to paint too discouraging a picture of a site that is very much in the making, that some people love, and on which a few people are spending a lot of time and effort and, no doubt, love. Time will tell. But quite honestly, have you got the time to spend on two sites doing the same thing? I haven't. I prefer a panoramic view with people chatting to being in a little room with narrow windows, and I'll be staying here.

A promising alternative to SU. I'll post more when I have time to explore. Thanks, Dancingsistah!
