"Urban Journal: tips & tricks for staying safe in the big city" This is going to be a tremendously useful blog/forum. Here's the intro: "Welcome to Urban Journal! A little bit of an introduction is in order before we get started. My name is Jason DeFillippo and my co-editor is Sean Bonner. We're a couple of city dwelling guys who have a passion for all things related to preparedness and survivalism in urban settings. We both live in the greater Los Angeles area which is home to a plague of possible disasters from riots to earthquakes to tsunamis and the list goes on. So with an eye to things going sideways we're starting this site to share our knowledge and experiences as we go. We're not claiming to be survival experts. We have a deep passion for this stuff and we're meeting more and more people every day who share it. Learning how to be ready in case something happens that's out of our control is becoming more and more important as more people are living in cities and as we lose more of the core skills it takes to get by and our reliance on the infrastructure of civilization increases. With that in mind we are also launching a forum where we can all discuss various tips and techniques and learn from each other and build a community of like minded people." Yeah, I'll be keeping this one bookmarked. Just had a quake in Inglewood minutes ago (which prompted Xeni Jardin to tweet this sweet link a day early).
