From the page: "But at the same time, I know the difference between a woman who has invested her hopes and dreams in a few cells and a woman, maybe 16 or 18 or 22 years old, who sees her entire life being derailed by those same few cells...." This seems like such a personal line, and that turns into the argument for her essay ("It is so personal"!) The issue is that, if it is so personal, why is it that one person speaks for the other? Is it because one person provides shelter and nourishment for the other? Because it is herbody and she has a voice? Her body with two totally separate blood supplies and DNA? Her body with two hearts, two brains, two sex organs, two separate pain avoidance functions, two sets of fingerprints?
