From the page: "Audience Applauds As Giuliani, Tancredo Endorse Waterboarding Torture Audience Applauds As Giuliani, Tancredo Endorse Waterboarding Torture During tonight's presidential debates, candidates were asked whether they would support the use of waterboarding -- a technique, defined as torture by the Justice Department, that simulates drowning and makes the subject "believe his death is imminent while ideally not causing permanent physical damage." Both former mayor Rudy Giuliani and Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) suggested they would support using the technique. Specifically asked about waterboarding, Giuliani said he would allow "every method [interrogators] could think of and I would support them in doing it." Tancredo later added, "I'm looking for Jack Bauer," referencing the television character who has used torture techniques such as suffocation and electrocution on prisoners. The audience applauded loudly after both statements. Watch it: Our republic died on 9/11/01. Welcome to the police state.

Reading the transcript this article seems to be about cornering someone just to get the right soundbite. If you want to prove someone is not honest/good/whatever, at least use proper evidence.

Vote for your favorite sociopath in 2008. For all those of you trying to support these people... get a grip. These practices defy the Geneva Convention, you can't almost torture someone, how would you like it if they performed these actions on your loved ones? If you say you're ok with that then you're either lying or a god-damned retard.

That Rudy Giuliani believes in torture does not surprise me. That Americans are turning out in droves to support this candidate does. Rudy Giuliani is a pro-choice George Bush with lots of ex-wives. Same fascist ideas; same lack of experience beyond his own back yard; same refrain ("9/11. 9/11. 9/11.... I know what's best").

History has proven that, evidence obtained from the use of torture, is unreliable. I find it disturbing that these individuals who are running for public office, would endorse such methods.

It's articles like these which tell me our struggle against fascism will eventually come down, as it always has, to battle in the streets. Here Republicans Rudy Guiliani and Tom Tancredo call for the torture of "terrorists" to great applause by the audience. A Nazi rally in Germany, circa 1936, would probably have sounded much the same. Tancredo, in a surreal moment of cynical manipulation or psychotic break with reality (you choose) actually appeals to Jack Bauer, the character from fascist propaganda piece "24" in which each episode features the protagonist torturing Juden -- oops, I mean terrorists -- for the glory of the Fatherland. If you think this sort of frothing neo-Nazi hatemongering is fringe or even unusual, you need only read some of the other comments about this article. A sample:
Lefter * 11:44am You have a source with info that can stop a nuke from going off in an American City, You losers can sing Kumbaya, - "I'm looking for Jack Bauer."
[UPDATE: Lefter, having noticed I made reference to his particular brand of slope-headed misanthropy, changed his comment to: "Given a choice I would take a good water-boarding over Poison Pen's childish, miserable, belly-aching every-time. Man, what a flaming, drama queen. Hah!" Apparently when the neo-fascists wrap themselves in the flag and screech "NINE-ELEVEN" over and over at the top of their lungs like a deranged parrot, it's patriotism; but showing actual concern for the welfare of one's fellow humans is being a "drama queen."]
kermit217 * 12:26am This is entitled "radical right wing agenda." Anyone seriously consider Guiliani right wing, not to mention "radical right wing?" He's so liberal, my wife thinks he's a Democrat. Waterboarding broke Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in under three minutes. If waterboarding this bastard for less than 180 seconds saves American lives, I'm all for it. Actually, even if it doesn't, I'm all for it. They don't just torture our boys, they behead them. We treat prisoners so well they are getting fat on their Muslim diets and prayer rugs, and we're worried about simulated drowning? If we had any balls, the head of KSM would be on a pike on top of the newly rebuilt trade center towers. Maybe then, they'd take us seriously.
MrsA * 12:13am Prior to 9/11 I might have said differently, but in the wake of that dreadful day, I concur with Giuliani and Tancredo that whatever means necessary would be taken to garner information and stop an action which could wipe yet another 3,000 American citizens ON AMERICAN SOIL off of the map.
I note, incidentally, that these hateful ignoramuses identify as christers. Well, I guess that answers the question of what Jesus would do...
