eh. this just seems like typical kneejerk nonsense that was written to get a rise out of people. nothing constructive. "THE WAY YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE IS GOING TO KILL YOU IF WE GET NUKED BACK TO THE STONE-AGE." For those of us who live in apartments, we can't have chickens or ducks or anything. We may be able to have a few potted plants to grow tomatoes or something, but how long will those last? Unless if you want to turn your entire flat into a greenhouse... Yeah, community gardens may be an option, but frankly, we probably deserve this. In order for something like this to work, we would really have to reorganize our social infrastructure. houses/apartment buildings would have to be entirely reconstructed. communities would have to be self sufficient. obviously, the positives of the restructuring far outweigh the negatives, but unless something huge (like a nuclear bomb) happens, we aren't going to change our ways of living. I work at an organic food store, and half of the employees go to the McDonald's in our shopping plaza for their lunch breaks. In order to break the culture of convenience, we need a giant inconvenience.
