You have freedom of speech everywhere. What you do not have is freedom of interfering with others' learning. Of course that's not what he did. So no harm done. What he did, however, was stroke his ego.

You could probably do an outside demonstration in some public place, but a classroom is not a place to do this. You don't actually have freedom of speech while on school grounds.
