The Obama presidency: Here comes socialism ... Obama will accomplish his agenda of reform under the rubric of recovery. Using the electoral mandate bestowed on a Democratic Congress by restless voters and the economic power given his administration by terrified Americans, he will change our country fundamentally in the name of lifting the depression. His stimulus packages won't do much to shorten the downturn -- although they will make it less painful -- but they will do a great deal to change our nation ... The best commentary Morris has ever written, and a wakeup call to those who want to retain their 'inalienable rights' over being 'chattel of the state'. .

This is the only part of the piece which is unlikely. While the media strains under falling revenue and market share they are still immensely powerful and will not let Obama take an ounce of blame or even criticism for anything he does. Like Hugo Chavez, he will remain popular among the poor (and poorly informed) as he continues to make more and more of them.
