otrov77 discovered 9 months ago- Scary devices for torturing from the middle age...

simkelxo rated 5 months ago- my favorite: the judas cradle. ouch.

admiraljesus rated 5 months ago- I finding it amazing the things humans are capable of. I love reading about this stuff, it fascinates me, the absolutely cruelty a person could innovate. parhamreza picked a wonderful quote for this article.

parhamreza rated 6 months ago- The accuracy of this article is suspect. It makes several claims which I know to be false, for example, burning at the stake was not the most common form of execution for witches... far more of them were hanged. Also, the hanged, drawn and quartered method of execution is very gruesome too and it doesn't even get a mention. Lastly, I'm reminded of this quotation: "People talk sometimes of a bestial cruelty, but that's a great injustice and insult to the beasts; a beast can never be so cruel as a man, so artistically cruel. The tiger only tears and gnaws, that's all he can do. He would never think of nailing people by the ears, even if he were able to do it." - Dostoevsky

Innomen rated 7 months ago- God sure is love.

myotus rated 8 months ago- Funny that Richard Simmon's "Sweatin' to the Oldies" video wasn't mentioned.

bobiks rated 9 months ago- wow

kukon rated 9 months ago- The Head Crusher

AvangionQ rated 9 months ago- From the page: "Marc Savoy wrote: Did those of the clergy administering these horrendous devices really believe in their ability to effect spiritual "cleansing" as the justification for such depravity? How would they know what devices engendered the specific spiritual effect they were attributed with? The religious mind can inspire anything to be of salvation, even death, all in the name of God. How convenient." ... as usual, the commenters leave the best retorts ...

redkillroy rated 9 months ago- Most of these i already know about (breaking wheel being #1). What surprising me is Weeping glass isn't on this list. Thinking of having millions of tiny pieces of glass right under my skin.. making movement nearly impossible.. and eventually being offed. Yeah, no.
