Thanatossassin doesn't get this because he doesn't understand how simple it is to protect your computer from spyware and viruses, how simple it is to turn off hidden startup programs, and turn off indexing to avoid the need to defragment. This is an excellent solution and formatting is... more

No real point to this, given that the most likely situation for a Windows XP reinstall is to solve corruption problems, spyware or other slow performance issues. Given that unattended mode retains all previous settings, a reinstall on that basis wouldn't solve the issues - in which case why reinstall XP at all?

This can either be a great time saver or a great mistake!

Seems great. But I was just wondering, correct me if I'm wrong, but the only reason I reformat Windows is when something is corrupt. In that case, I need to scrap the whole system. Keeping it would be foolish, just as if you didn't do a reinstallation at all. So while it's a great idea I could keep configurations (depending on the problem), installed programs, and files when reinstalling Windows, I don't really see a point...

I'll try this out soon. I have to reinstall Windows on 2 machines in a couple of days. Its really a waste of almost an entire afternoon sitting there baby-sitting the thing while it plods along. Unattended would be very cool indeed!
