    some stuff i wouldnt do like turn off the updates and the automatic system restore points.i think those are security issues that i just wouldnt chance turning off.but i did get some other useful tips from this page

    There's some useful stuff here but two things I'd have newbies not do are to turn off the automatic updates and the automatic system restore points. Set the updates to not automatically install. This way you get constant reminders but won't get the system lags when install commences while working on that term paper that's due in 2 hours. System restore points are necessary for when that update from Windows breaks something (does it on a semi regular basis) or when a program you loaded causes problems. USE SITES LIKE THIS WITH CAUTION.
