Most people know that drug prohibition aka the war on drugs is an abysmal failure. At the least it is a huge waste of money for very poor results. Prohibition actually results in more violent crime and violates civil liberties to decide what to do with our bodies (if we are not hurting anyone else). What they don't know is that the majority of academics in the field of drug policy acknowledge that drug prohibition does much more harm than good and that prohibition should be repealed and drugs decriminalized.

the worst thing that could come from marijuana use is a night in jail.. hmm then whats the point of making it illegal?

First, this is really awesome. I like it lots. Second, in regards to the original poster for the second one... "Tried to e-mail Uranus. Made hat out of ground beef. Heard my hair grow. Spent night in jail. Marijuana. Harmless?" Well, lemme see... the fourth one is a result of the first three, and there doesn't seem to be a damn thing harmful about the first three, so, umm... yes, it is?

You know, kids wouldn't be in jail and you wouldn't be wasting tax money if you legalized marijuana

"I'm torn because I can't tell the difference between people who honestly believe marijuana should be legalized because it's less harmful than tobacco and the people who just want to get high (and would be doing heroin if they could afford it)." Markchenjd

What really f***s me off about the war on drugs is that governments still take no responsibility for the failures of rehabilitation programmes/suburban complacency and just sheer ignorance but are only too happy to flaunt their tiny percentages of successes as triumphs of policy and legislation...f***heads get a clue and spend more time/effort/resources...anything!! on the sources of the issues instead of trying to cover up the end results with catchy slogans and empty promises....again....f***heads.

So the harm comes from being sent to jail? That is easily remedied.

Puts it in perspective.
