- Slax is a very good linux distribution, that is extremely portable, ideal for the casual pc repair guy or simply running linux demonstrations.

SLAX is fast and beautiful Linux operating system which fits on small (3.14") CD-ROM disc. It runs directly from the CD (or USB) without installing. The Live CD described here is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and uses Unification File System (also known as unionfs), allowing read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory.

MelloProto rated 15 months ago- Seems like people like this. SLAX is a very compressed LiveCD Linux Distro. I'll try it out soon, but until then, have a gander!

tjh rated 17 months ago- I think this is probably the best live linux CD distro. What I like best about it is that (if you have at least ~380meg of memory) you can read the whole CD in memory and then boot. This means everything runs from memory and you can reuse the CD. It makes it a lot faster than say Knoppix or Ubuntu. If you're a linux geek and need a great liveCD, give this a whirl.

Sniper-Wolf33 rated 22 months ago- This is really something that's worth checking out!
