Depending on how you define "ties to civilization", with a tall enough WiFi antenna and a reliable power source (solar panels and batteries?) it's theoretically possible. However, my humble advice (which I know full well will go unappreciated in the reviews of a humor-tagged page), is to close your account with your ISP, give up Internet access for six months or a year, use it only at work or school, and only for work or school. Doing that and giving up television for a year was one of the most liberating, intellectually stimulating, and creative times in my life. You may find your dream transformed and somewhat easier to attain. You may also learn more about yourself and the ones you love and discover more reasons to stay close to them. @koshermal: LOL
