While this "says official site for kids" trust me I can't imagine an adult not having a fun frolic here ! I had the great fortune to attend a Silverstein reading years ago and have loved and admired him since. It was a pity to lose him far too soon. His books should be a must read for every high school student. At the very least "The Giving Tree" should be read to every elementary school class. I use his books for storytimes, give them as gifts and have treasured copies of my own. His wisdom, often hidden in wit, is astounding. He is a must for everyone from child to curmudgeon. P.S. Recently re-read the travel journal he did for Playboy "Silverstein Around The World". Perhaps a number of his fans don't realize that he began his career in 1956 as a Playboy contributor after a stint in the army. He also wrote "The Cover of the Rolling Stone" for Dr. Hook and "A Boy Named Sue" for Johnny Cash, as well as "The Unicorn" for the Rovers. There is much more to this man than meets the eye and hopefully someday someone will do a biography.

Since we're on the topic Shel Silverstein (whom I personally regard as one of the greatest poets of the last 50 years...)

One of my favorite cartoonists. Shel died in 1999, but this site keeps things going with animations of his work, and you can send some cool e-cards to your kids, or those you know who are kids at heart.

A really cool site for kids. I only wish the window would maximize to full screen. But take the kids here and let 'em go.
