Carl's quickly becoming one of my favorite science writers. First with At The Water's Edge, and now with Parasite Rex. Here's his frequently updated blog.

Excellent review of an article in Current Biology about evolution of communication. The authors used robots to model how communication might evolve. Two things struck me. One, this is an excellent model of natural selection. Anyone who has doubts about the power of selection should read this. Two, cooperation is powerful.

Zimmer's great science blog has moved here. This (June 9, 2006) entry is a pretty good Zimmer FAQ.
