Un-fucking believable. These religious dickheads are just about as dumb as a box of rocks. KingofSporkdom said: "Not all religious people are like this" Err, No one suggested that they are.

Okay, you know what's a problem? demonizing religious people. Doing so to any group of people is a problem. It doesn't get things solved, it only creates animosity. You can argue that the religious don't give anywhere near enough respect to the nonreligious, but that does not make it alright for us to do the same in return.I also understand that religion is, all things considered, illogical. But that doesn't mean that the people who worship it are illogical people. Human beings are creatures of logic, even if we do depart from that from time to time. What's more, this article is a pretty gross generalization. Not all religious people are like this. In fact, such people are in the minority. They make up a pretty loud minority, but most people - religious or otherwise - are relatively reasonable, moralistic, tolerant people. Don't just imagine them to all be weak-minded sheep. Yes, religion certainly gives off some potentially very harmful by-products, but even so, dismissing something that is so widely clung to - even if it's not something that's particularly reasonable - will do no good for anyone. And the more people try to force religion out of the religious, the tighter they'll hang on to it. And for these reasons I really don't much care for Dawkins' school of thought regarding the issue.

This doesn't mean much. It's easy to see how a man known for promoting science and reason could be seen as an atheist- and perhaps he is, though it hardly matters. When he points out that a particular passage in the Bible is wrong, it's easy to misunderstand that as an attack on faith and religion; after all, I don't know what this lecture was on, but if the topic was not related to religion directly, Nye's comment may have been unnecessary and confusing.

It is funny, until you think that those same nutjobs that left the room are probably going to end up like the ones who killed their poor kid by not getting medical assistance thinking god would protect her.

FTP: "We believe in a God!" exclaimed one woman as she left the room with three young children." I feel so sorry for those three children, who have to be dumbed-down and brainwashed by their idiot mother. They missed out on some cool science stuff all because their parent insists on the validity of fairy tale. That is the saddest part of all.

From the page: "'We believe in a God!" exclaimed one woman as she left the room with three young children."

The article mentions no booing by Bible believers. Some people walked out, and one ignorant woman said something. This hardly speaks to the evils of religion.

They are not denying the fact that the moon reflects the light of the Earth! They stormed out of the room because he seemed to be trying to discredit the Bible. Purposely taking something out of context is a sad and pathetic practice.
