I'm all for radiation-eating mushrooms! But I like free energy more! :)

Wind and solar energy will not be able to serve the needs of a growing country. As someone who lives 20 miles from a nuclear plant and with several family members involved in the design and safety of nuclear power, I would not mind living even closer. In developement are fungus's (yes that's right mushrooms) that can digest and feed off of radiation just like plants feed off of light. http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/258 This would make nuclear fallout, and accidental radiation easy to maintain. Solar and wind technology is well over 25 years old, mushroom radiation absorption is cutting edge technology, start thinking in the 21st century. Summary 1. Advances in biotechnology make nuclear radiation and waste containable, and greatly increases the safety of nuclear energy(renewable!) 2. Solar and wind are not viable options, for they have been around almost half a century and are still uneconomical and underproductive
