This page of ReadyMade ("the magazine for people who like to make stuff") has some very cool ideas for dealing with sweaters that are past their best wear by date. Some ideas are a button-up computer cozy to protect your laptop, felt coaster made from 100% wool sweaters washed in hot water and dried on high heat - felting is a favourite of this non-sewer who has made a terrific little coat for my small dog from a sweater I accidentally turned into felt ~ felt needs no hemming! ReadyMade has an ongoing contest for those (some call them McGivers:) re-purposing old and discarded items. The most recent winner is a broken umbrella turned into a rather chic magazine rack!

Cosy stuff but i THINK...im not sure, but i THINK that a wool-stuff that protects the laptop on this page actually can end up destroying the battery on the laptop...been there done that! Its true!

I have a subscription to Ready-Made magazine. It is so cool that I think one of my neighbors is stealing it (not that I can blame him/her). Until I find out who it is, I'll just have to rely on their website for creative ways to recover a chair with an old sweater...
