    There is usually a story behind the name of all bands. This site does a pretty good job of giving you an idea regarding the origin of the band's name.

In the movie, a black transsexual prostitute walked into a bar and declared, I am the Alabama Thunderpussy! The band thought it was so hilarious they called their label, Relapse Records, and changed their name. Ten dollars to the person who can find one Mr/Mrs Alabama Thunderpussy, 70's porn star. From the page: " The Chemical Brothers Initially calling themselves "The Dust Brothers" after the Grammy Award winning producers of The Beastie Boys, those same producers threatened a lawsuit. They changed 'Dust' to 'Chemical' from a song of theirs called "Chemical Beat."
