From the page: "Psiphon is a censorship circumvention solution allowing users to access blocked sites in countries where the Internet is censored. Psiphon turns a regular home computer into a personal, encrypted server capable of retrieving and displaying web pages anywhere."

I originally heard about this on a NPR show and thought it sounded important, like a way for me to support the free flow of information to everyone. That's what the internet should be about, shouldn't. After figuring out how to configure my router, etc., I haven't had much traffic. If anyone can direct me to a community page where I can share my node information, I really appreciate it. I've tested the connection and it works. I believe this is such an important resource for circumventing the evil of censorship, I want to participate in this minor way.

Phew! I did something today. I don't know if it's good or bad - I have yet to decide. There are folks in countries whose governments censor the Internet (China, Korea, Cuba, Saudi Arabia .. the list goes on). So these folks do not have free access to international News websites, media, information, Wikipedia, porn, books, music, you know.... - stuff that everybody has a right to be able to access. Psiphon is a program that allows those people to access this information by using your Internet connection So currently I have a young foreigner using my Psiphonode. I was worried at first. This young man is connecting to my computer and using it to browse the Internet. Am I worried about allowing someone from overseas to use my machine? Is it the policies of their government or their people I don't like? They are often not the same. There is enough prejudice in the world. I feel very very strongly that these people should be allowed to at the very least be able to read the News. So this young man connects to my computer, and do you know what he uses it for? He reads the CNN and BBC news websites. And d'you know what? It warms my heart....

From the page: "psiphon is a human rights software project developed by the Citizen Lab at the Munk Centre for International Studies that allows citizens in uncensored countries to provide unfettered access to the Net through their home computers to friends and family members who live behind firewalls of states that censor. Anybody tried this? How's this any different from the existing TOR network?
