Very much the same type of testing as EQAO in Ontario...As a supply teacher, I hear time after time that my colleagues are forced to teach to the test instead of giving kids much more valuable instruction. Down with Standardized Testing!

when will they ever figure out that everyone hates the WASL and that it is destroying our education system?

My new hero... he'll probably ending teaching in an alternative school somewhere but until he gets run out of his system... AWESOME .... we have sunk deeply into the black hole of testing, and our kids are being royally screwed.

Brave teacher! There are better things for teachers to spend their time on than standardized testing.

This man is a hero. He stood up for what he believes in regardless of the consequences. He defended the students who can't defend themselves because adults never listen to children. This gives me hope that students can still go to school and get a good education. From the page: "To my mind the measure of successful childhood is that each child learns about who she or he is and how the world works, gains an assertive and confident self image, and feels safe, well fed, and happy. Schools, along with parents and communities, need to contribute wisely to this goal. Unfortunately, the WASL creates panic, insecurity, low self esteem, and sadness for our children."

These are the worst things you can do to students. I'm livid that my children have still have to face these tests. It completely wrecks any chance of creative learning curriculums and makes teachers spend the year "teaching" students how to pass a test so their school can keep funding rather than teaching them how to really learn and be successful.
