The mysterious substance known as dark energy has been fuelling the expansion of the universe for at least nine billion years, according to astronomers in the US. Adam Riess of Johns Hopkins University and colleagues made the discovery by using the Hubble Space Telescope to study ancient exploding stars. They have also concluded that dark energy appears to be related to the "cosmological constant" first proposed - and then retracted -- by Albert Einstein. ... To be effective, dark energy must account for about 70% of all energy in the universe -- but it has yet to be detected ... ----- Bottom Lines ------- 1. Report now says that Einstein's famous cosmological constant (READ: "Fudge Factor" now back in favor, is best explanation, failing that the picture. (Sigh). 2. Per Piet Heein's Grook: "NOTHING IS INDESPENSABLE -Grook to warn the universe against megalomania The universe may be as great as they say. But it wouldn't be missed if it didn't exist." 3. WHY did the authors not consider that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE somebody is blowing it up like we do a balloon? I PREDICT a sceond BIG BANG based on this hypothesis. WHENEVER I blow up a balloon in the DARK (I can't the see the energy - it's dark, Bozo), it makes a BIG BANG when things go too far. This is just the DARK ENERGY exploding DARK MATTER (the balloon I cannot see until next morning), AND, ALWAYS, the balloon has a"Black Hole or holes in it then. Just muliply this simple experiment by about a googplex of blowers and then you have it - new BIG BANG on the event horizon as soon as enough of us join the blowers.
