- Red 5 standing by... I had the misfortune of having to design applications for the buggy-as-hell Flash Communication Server (now called Flash Media Server) which locked up all the time, and couldn't tell when clients disconnected (probably a limitation of the Flash client-side lifecycle). This is a free alternative that hopefully works at least as poorly. Definitely an interesting option if you want to provide streaming or interactive Flash content. Too bad the Flash communications APIs are so bad.
