From the page: "As long as there have been books, there have been people opposed to what is said in some of those books. Authors who challenge the accepted norms in their literature are often the target of angry people who do not understand or appreciate their literature. The following books are excellent examples of great literature that has become banned or challenged in an attempt to shield the public from what some see as inappropriate." Every time a banned book is read, an angel gets his wings. :)

A lot of time has been taken on this, and I didn't know any of these were banned. And Crucious, just because you didn't understand the book doesn't mean it was bad.

Authors who challenge the accepted norms in their literature are often the target of angry people who do not understand or appreciate their literature. The following books are excellent examples of great literature that has become banned or challenged in an attempt to shield the public from what some see as inappropriate. Protect the Children These books have all been at the heart of controversy over their appropriateness for children and youth to read. Having lived in a free country - not in the US or USSR - I've read several of these excellent books, half of them when I was under 20 years of age.

More like "50 Books That Haven't Been Banned Anywhere Except in Christian Schools" Ignorant close minded parents who grew up on dying ideologies of pretty pictures and peace and religious centers that try to censor out important parts of our culture should have no power in educational systems. By banned, I'm assuming you all know it means mostly "out there" schools and small town libraries that have a little influence from state governments and such. And it's basically only American, as I'm sure many people from other countries haven't heard of some of these books. Good list for the most part if you need something new to read, although I have read most in school.
