This may spell one man's last step in tearing apart and reforming worldwide media to promote a small and strange form of selective news reporting, coupling the exaltation of economic growth as an end in itself with pandering to a poor religious base whose simple values are being exploited. Scratch the surface a little, and neither moral high ground nor good intentions for the average person can be found in their organization.

Another issue he will be pondering: How to use the Journal to buttress News Corp.'s planned business-news TV channel, given restraints imposed by the Journal's existing content-sharing agreement with General Electric Co.'s CNBC. There has been speculation Mr. Murdoch may want to name Times of London editor Robert Thomson to a senior role, helping to oversee the Journal. Mr. Murdoch is expected to spend much of his time dealing with Dow Jones, reflecting his habit of focusing intently on new businesses for a period of time before shifting his attention elsewhere. Mr. Murdoch has promised to invest in Dow Jones, particularly its digital properties, as well as expanding its editorial presence overseas. Meanwhile, some readers voiced their displeasure with the deal in emails, and by late yesterday afternoon about 170 of them had canceled their subscriptions, citing News Corp. as the reason. The Journal has about 1.7 million print subscribers. sorting out DJ, launching a number 1 business news channel. its going to be a busy time for NWS. i have to lol at the last bit though - 170 out of 1.7 mil have canceled their subscriptions. when nws takes control i will be getting a subscription.
