This is what an abortion clinic would look like, if abortions were illegal. Sex ed does an amazing job at protecting young women from unwanted pregnancies. Amazingly enough the more information girls have about birth control, the more willing they are to talk to their partners, and on average they are slightly older when they have their first sexual experience. No form of birth control is perfect but all are better than none and knowing how to use them improves their odds of working. In "the U.S. abortion rate dropped by 8% between 1996 and 2003, but remained higher than rates in many Northern and Western European countries" and guess what they don't make a fuss over abortions and they provide real health care for all. I love the crowd that wants to stop all abortions, doesn't really care if women have access to affordable birth control and sure as hell isn't in favour of giving assistance to poor women and their babies. Abortion needs to be safe and legal and girls need access to information and birth control so that abortions are a rare event.

I'm a left wing socialist feminist but I also believe in the sacredness of life." Uh, no, you're not. Sorry. You will never, ever, ever stop abortions. Ever. Ether they're legal and safe, or you have women who either A) kill themselves trying to abort the child, B) carry the baby, and then stuff it in a plastic bag in a dumpster somewhere, or C) have an unwanted child. If you are honestly against abortion, the best thing you can do is help educate young people about sex and contraceptives, allow young women access to emergency contraceptives without parent's approval or a prescription, and provide condoms in schools. For God's sake, people. It's not rocket science.
