while these "rules of thumb" are in essence great guidelines for the novice, for the experienced mixer they are nothing more than standardized "regulations". IMHO you can either mix "within the box" using these standards and (hopefully) get picture perfect postcards of musical "perfection", much like a Steely Dan album offers... OR you can color off the page and use your ears to find a new balance in the stereo/5.1 field. personally i prefer to use my ears and my imagination as my guide... but hey. that's just me.

I immediately started sending this out to folks who want to, but have not yet mastered, the different freqs. Awesome chart should hang near every board.
