@murdocsvan : snakes have all the DNA necessary for limbs, and in fact millions of years ago, they did. A series of mutations caused these genes to not express theirselves, and thus modern snakes came to be. This would appear to be a case of reactivation of some of those genes.

My guess is that the hand is from a "little critter" that the snake ate, and maybe it tried to escape the snake and its hand made it out. There is no such thing as a snake with a hand, really now...
