Abandoned Owls Blamed On Potter "An increase in the number of owls abandoned at a rescue centre in Flintshire has been blamed on the Harry Potter books. Children keen to have their own owl like Harry's Hedwig, a snowy owl, are getting the birds as pets. But staff at the Flintshire Wildlife and Pet Rescue Centre in Holywell said the children find they cannot cope once they have them." It is hardly the fault of the fictitious Harry Potter if some parents are fuckwitted enough to buy their precious little darlings an owl just because they want one. An owl is not a bloody budgie and is extremely unlikely to fly in with the post in its beak in the morning à la Hedwig et al. Hedwig joins 101 Dalmations. 101? Add several zeros.
