Pratchett said his statement should be interpreted as I am not dead and that he had taken the news philosophically and possibly with a mild optimism.
I will, of course, be dead at some future point, as will everybody else. For me, this maybe further off than you think.
I know it's a very human thing to say 'Is there anything I can do?' but in this case I would only entertain offers from very high-end experts in brain chemistry.

(Normally I frown on the use of smily faces in public, but since Terry was so much a part of my life as a 16 year old, I thought I'd make an exception. Why couldn't it have been Terry Goodkind, twice?)

The news that Terry Pratchett has Alzheimer's is a serious fucking blow. A man with such a sharp mind and wry wit. Kudos to the man for keeping a good spirit up and sense of humour despite it all.
