- Getting the measure of a kilogram. The standard mass in Paris is decreasing in relation to the sister masses held around the metric using world. No one knows why, but there are multiple attempts to remove the definition of a kilogram from dependence on the Paris standard and onto a constant of nature to free it from these chance variations.

- When is a kilogram of sugar, not a kilogram of sugar? Well, it appears we might have to reassess how we accurately measure weight as 'Le Grand K' - the international reference object for the unit of mass - has changed in weight. Even though the change is slight, it could have huge implications in the world of Science, and will in all likelihood result in a new 'constant' reference being created.
