4 numbers: 1 9 8 4 "Opinion polls, both in the US and Britain, say that about 75% of us want more, not less, surveillance." Come on people giving this much power/control to one group of people, whether a 'government' or not.. is insane. This is far more threatening to your freedom than terrorism. It sounds like people are afraid of the wrong people here.. WAKE UP AND LOOK AROUND YOU. :(

Big Brother is really watching you!
Yeah yeah, we're all f******. Denmark just started logging all electronic communications - to fight terrorists supposedly. Goodbye democrazy, hello police state.... And the worst part is: "Interestingly, we, the public, don't seem to mind. Opinion polls, both in the US and Britain, say that about 75% of us want more, not less, surveillance. " In Denmark its about 40% --this is were its at, we're all really stupid. And now to a slashdot-comment by Shbazjinkens: So in the end, my question is what can we do about it? It's impossible to get the masses (in the US) to actually get out and do something about this right now, I just don't think they care enough. Mass opinion is that if you don't have anything to worry about the government finding then don't worry about them watching you. The only credible methods I've seen for avoiding surveilance involve actually destroying the surveilance equipment. The only way to circumvent them is by RF jamming, wire cutting and creating a bright spot around you at all times to flood the camera view - which involves wearing bright LED's or a laser. Does this mean that eventually there are going to be rogue groups going around and destroying government surveilance equipment? I think so. When you feel you're cornered you do what you have to." ....

Soon it will be possible to literally find a needle in a haystack,as you will discover in this article, imagine being picked out of a crowd of thousands of people,or being watched from behind a wall, and this is only some of what can be done.

The US and UK governments are developing increasingly sophisticated gadgets to keep individuals under their surveillance. When it comes to technology, the US is determined to stay ahead of the game. ...Interestingly, we, the public, don't seem to mind. Opinion polls, both in the US and Britain, say that about 75% of us want more, not less, surveillance. Some American cities like New York and Chicago are thinking of taking a lead from Britain where our movements are monitored round the clock by four million CCTV cameras. Christ almighty. People should be bothered by this. Where does it stop?... and will we end up in a 24/7 permanently monitored society with virtually no privacy at all? Bloody sheep mentality...

So far there is no gadget that can actually see inside our houses, but even that's about to change. "But it will also show whether someone inside a house is looking to harm you, because if they are, their heart rate will be raised. And 10 years from now, the technology will be much smarter. We'll scan a person with one of these things and tell what they're actually thinking." He glanced at me quizzically, noticing my apprehension. "Yeah, I know," he said. "It sounds very Star Trekkish, but that's what's ahead." This web writer (beprogressive) agrees that it sounds too Star Trekkish, Yes. More than a few invasive listening and observing devices are in place in critical places, like our closets...or (remember this about MLK?) our commode might be bugged as was his. 10 years ago it would have been impossible to convince me of this New World Order, I simply ignored all the warnings that were presented to me by highly intelligent friends and colleagues'. I was just too busy....too busy....too busy. Besides, they already know what I am thinking as I am quick to broadcast it to one and all.

I read in the week that the UK is the most 'observed' country with your average joe being caught on cameras300 times a day. Well, this would appear to signal that, as a very good Russian friend of mine said, "Here in the US, you are watched far more closely that we were ever in the Soviet Union." Credit Card transactions - EZ-Pass - lottery - online activity to name a few... Maybe I'd rather see the cameras that see me than the powers that don't.
