They still plan to hunt 1000 whales so the news is not that good - Boycott Japan!

From the page: "Australia had been particularly critical of the humpback hunt, and Foreign Minister Stephen Smith welcomed Japan's decision. But he reiterated Canberra's view that there was no credible reason for Japan to hunt any species of whale, and pledged to keep up diplomatic efforts to prevent further missions. " yay!!!!!!

Japan is under intense fire - bravo! Finally World pressure is paying off and there is no question the momentum against whaling is building. In a face-saving move Japan has declined to hunt Humpback whales at the moment but they maintain they still need to kill a further 1,000 whales to continue "research" - GARBAGE! This move, however, reinforces the view that massive World opinion can make major nations yield - they are NOT invincible. The power of a motivated public working in unison can work wonders, make no mistake about this folks. Now is the time NOT to relent - we now have to increase pressure on the whaling nations to desist from whaling altogether. Keep the pressure up - it works! Both the Bush Administration (in Bali) and the Japanese Government (whaling) have had to eat "humble pie" this week as World opinion began to bite.
